I ate here last week and it was still as good as when my family used to visit on a regular basis over a decade ago. These days they're closed on Sunday, inexplicably, which is a bit of a bother as there never used to be anything else of interest nearby to make up for going down on a Saturday night.
The new West Coast Plaza mall has just now opened though, so that's not too bad. I picked up a copy of Apocalypto on DVD for about $15 and had some coffee from the Seattle-based Tully's company, which has just opened two outlets here in Singapore. I think the other one is at Far East Square but can't be sure.

I've enjoyed Lim Seng Lee duck rice for years by virtue of living in Pasir Panjang. Their secret's in the sauce. I always request a bag of it with which to drown my 2 personal packets. Eating-in with the family's even better, with kang kong, tofu and a large glass of lime juice to complete the experience. Full marks from me! No thanks for making me drool here in England.
My parents live in that area and I've always been underwhelmed by that duck rice. I must be missing something ...
Well, those are two differing views if ever there were any.
We had the lime juice, kangkong, and boiled eggs during that last visit, no tofu. In fact, I don't remember ever having the tofu. Next time, then.

Down the street from the duck rice place in the same row of is a Chinese food outlet. They serve one of my favorites foods- mai pian ji or cereal chicken. Cereal prawns are everywhere, but this is the only place that I've found that serves cereal chicken.
cneil: argghh, at some point in the last few days, I noticed Cereal Chicken on a menu, but can't remember where now. It was in the general town area, I'm sure. Will let you know if it comes back to me.
