The Life Aquatic

Last night we saw The Life Aquatic, in my opinion the best Wes Anderson film I've seen (missed Rushmore). It's tons of fun to sit down and see with friends, picking out all the little moments and details. Lots of laughs and great lines. Highlights: Bill Murray (truly in a career renaissance now); the music (David Bowie songs sung in Portugeuse with an acoustic guitar by one of the crew members, and cheesy electronic music that accompanies his documentaries); Jeff Goldblum as Steve Zissou's “part-gay” nemesis, Hennessy; those highly-wantable Team Zissou Adidas sneakers (I would have been first in line to buy these, had I known earlier); the incredible set built for the ship, magically illuminated in the early long shot of it; and the action sequences. But the point of this post is to say that I want Team Zissou merchandise real badly. I would like the powder blue uniform for pyjamas, with the red beanie. I would like a pair or two of the “1987 Limited Edition Zissou” Adidas ROMs (you can see these on the website or just Google it). I want one of the “Team Zissou Intern” T-Shirts, and I'm about to buy one on eBay. I remember as a kid when my family were members of the Cousteau Society, there were always opportunities to buy merchandise. I believe my dad had a Cousteau belt. I know this is a film and not a charitable marine life organization, but since it parodies one, it should go the distance and come up with a catalog. In the meantime, I have ordered myself Party Dave and Livestrong Cancer Researcher T-Shirts. Bonus: Team Zissou MP3 Ringtone The official website has a ringtone that can be sent to your US phone, but if you happen to live outside the US, you're shit out of luck, it would appear. So I've made this unofficial Team Zissou ringtone for phones that play MP3 files (my Sony Ericsson K700i is an example). Couldn't find any others on the net when I searched, so here it is.
